If you want to reset your iPhone make sure to take the backup of all the data before hand so that you don’t have to face any problems due to missing data in future.
Here are the ways in which you can backup your iPhone:
Back up your iPhone
You can use either iCloud or iTunes or the Finder to back up your iOS device.
Back up iPhone using iCloud
- Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
- Turn on iCloud Backup. iCloud automatically backs up your iPhone daily when iPhone is connected to power, locked, and on Wi-Fi.
- To perform a manual backup, tap Back Up Now.
- To view your iCloud backups, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups. To delete a backup, choose a backup from the list, then tap Delete Backup.
Back up iPhone using Finder In your Mac
- Connect iPhone and your computer using USB cable.
- In the Finder sidebar on your Mac, select your iPhone.
- At the top of the Finder window, click General.
- Select “Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this Mac.”
- To encrypt your backup data and protect it with a password, select “Encrypt local backup.”
- Click Back Up Now.
Back up iPhone using iTunes in your Windows PC
- Connect iPhone and your computer using USB cable.
- In the iTunes app on your PC, click the iPhone button near the top left of the iTunes window.
- Click Summary.
- Click Back Up Now.
- To encrypt your backups, select “Encrypt local backup,” type a password, then click Set Password.
- To see the backups stored on your computer, choose Edit > Preferences, then click Devices.
- Encrypted backups have a lock icon in the list of backups.
Factory-reset your iPhone
Once you’re confident that you’ve backed up your iPad or iPhone, you’re ready to perform a factory reset. This will completely wipe your device, which is why having a backup beforehand is so important.
To reset your iPhone or iPad follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings > General > Reset.
2. Select Erase All Content and Settings.
3. If you’ve got an iCloud backup set up, iOS will ask if you’d like to update it, so you don’t lose unsaved data.
4. Tap Back Up Then Erase.
5. After typing in your passcode (if you’ve set one), you’ll get a warning box, with the option to Erase iPhone (or iPad) in red. Tap this.
6. You’ll need to enter your Apple ID password to confirm the action.
7. The device will be wiped and go back to the initial setup screen you saw when you first used the device.
Using iTunes
1. Connect your iPhone to the computer and open iTunes.
2. Make sure your iPhone is selected from the left menu in iTunes.
3. Click the Restore button in the centre of the iTunes Summary tab.
4. You can choose to Back Up the contents of your iPhone to the computer.
5. iTunes will ask if you’re ready to Restore the iPhone, this will wipe all of your data and settings from the device.
6. Click Restore
7. iTunes will download, prepare and restore the software on your iPhone. Do not unplug the iPhone from the computer during this process.
8. When finished, iTunes will ask if you want to restore from backup.
9. Choose “Set up as a new iPhone” to start fresh with factory settings.
10. Enter a name for your iPhone and the process is complete Your iPhone or iPad is now all new.
